Chicago Public Schools teacher
Timothy Canavan, 72, a longtime resident of Forest Park, died on Aug. 17, 2019. Born on Feb. 23, 1947 in Savanna, Illinois to Kenneth and Martha Canavan, he moved to Forest Park with his family as a young child and attended grade school at St. Bernardine and Fenwick High School. After graduating from St. Ambrose University, he went on to become a schoolteacher in the Chicago Public School System for nearly 40 years. He loved spending time with his family and “teaching” his grandchildren at every possible opportunity. He was a free spirit who enjoyed traveling and experiencing new things.
He loved visiting family and friends, especially at the beach and also enjoyed the outdoors and reconnecting with old friends. A “Chicago” guy at heart, he was an avid and lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. He also loved history, linguistics, music, Words with Friends, driving around in his Corvette, and a good meal.
Tim Canavan is survived by his children, George (Leigh Ann) and Elizabeth (Andrew); and his grandchildren, Maddy, Hannah, Connor and Caitlin. He was cremated and his ashes will be spread on the beach in Duxbury, Massachusetts where he spent a lot of time with his family.
