We would like to take the opportunity to thank the many people and organizations who came together to honor Forest Park veterans at our Historical Society of Forest Park annual meeting this past Sunday.
Our very generous sponsors, the Gillian Baker Team, Everett Wealth Solutions, Forest Agency and Committee to elect Kristin Lyons provided support that will enable us to continue our collection of veteran stories and archive the stories for future generations.
Our event was hosted at the American Legion, who shared their beautiful hall for the event. The plentiful meal was provided by the generous contributions from O’Sullivans, Jimmy’s Place and Ed’s Way, who each graciously provided portions of our meal.
We especially would like to thank the men and women who served our country in the military and for those who joined us for this special afternoon. This year our Forest Park neighbors, Dennis Michael Close and Donald Lines both shared their military history with our Oral History archivist, Nancy Caveretta, who has led the efforts in the “Our Neighbors, Oral Histories” project. We have archived the stories on our website, forestparkhistory.org.
Special thanks to our Dr. Orland awardee, Amy Binns- Calvey, who leads our monthly tour of the Haymarket Martyrs’ Monument throughout the summer.
It is with deep gratitude that we would like to thank all the friends, neighbors, businesses and community members who have given to the Historical Society of Forest Park through their membership, by attending an event, volunteering or sharing their history with us this past year. It is through the continued community generosity and giving spirit that the Historical Society of Forest Park is able to thrive.
