The home of former mayor Anthony Calderone went on the market Feb. 11. Listed at $589,900, it is being marketed by AvenueOne, a real estate company in Forest Park.
Calderone reported he has an opportunity to move to west suburban Addison to live close to one of his sons, and the chance to be near family is motivating his move from Forest Park.
Calderone was the mayor of Forest Park for 20 years. In 2018, he announced his decision not to run for the position again and finished his fifth term as mayor in 2019.
In his long tenure, he saw Forest Park through many changes, including the revitalization of Madison Street, improvements to Roosevelt Road and the purchase of the Altenheim property. Under his leadership, important village promotions were made, including that of Police Chief Tom Aftanas, Director of Public Works John Doss, and Director of the Howard Mohr Community Center Karen Dylewski.
