Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls

The Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., is hosting storytime inspired by the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls books and podcast, followed by art exploration based on the stories. Monday, March 2 from 4 to 5 p.m. Ages five and up.

Changemakers Club for Tweens

On Wednesday, March 4 from 4 to 5 p.m., tweens are invited to join the middle grade service club at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., to work on projects to help others. For the first meeting, we will discuss plans and do an ice breaker. Participants will earn an hour of service for each meeting they attend.

Leap Year Trivia Night

The Park District of Forest Park is hosting a trivia night on Feb. 29 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Roos Recreation Center, 7329 Harrison St. for participants 14 and up. 

Celebrate the year’s extra day playing trivia with friends. Get a team together and compete against neighbors and friends for prizes as the Chicago Trivia Guys test your knowledge. Put together a team theme and enter our table decorating contest too. Pizza and pop will be served. Each team may have up to eight people. Grab you friends and form a team or register individually and we can put you on a team with neighbors. The cost is $10 per resident and $12 for non-residents.

lack History Month Spoken Word

CBD Body High, 7451 Madison St., is recognizing Black History Month with a spoken word event on Friday, Feb. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. Speak your mind, share your spoken word, sing, rap or perform. It’s $5 at the door for performers and $10 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at tinyurl.com/u6dv3rx.

Teen Arts and Crafts

Stop by the young adult lounge at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., on March 2 from 4 to 5 p.m., and every Monday in March, for arts and crafts with Miss Amy.  

Census Jobs Fair

Learn about jobs with the 2020 Census, including office and in-field positions, at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd., on Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Flexible hours and great pay. More information available at 2020census.gov/jobs.

Leap Day History and Community Festival

The Historical Society is celebrating all that makes Forest Park great, both new and old! Enjoy cake, lemonade and hot dogs from Smokey Joel’s Red Hots. Kids can enjoy face painting and temporary tattoos. Community organizations will be in attendance, including the Forest Park Public Library, local historian Ken Knack, the 2020 Census committee, Forest Park Arts Alliance, Forest Park Baptist Church, the Environmental Commission, Forest Park Review, Boy Scouts and more.  Saturday, Feb. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd. Attendance is free, but donations are welcome!
