Village Administrator Tim Gillian sent out a COVID-19 update memo to residents on Friday, March 13. In the memo, Gillian announced that District 91 schools are closed beginning Monday, March 16 until at least March 30.
The memo also states that the Forest Park Public Library, the Howard Mohr Community Center and facilities at the Park District of Forest Park will also be closed “as we practice social distancing.”
These closures include childcare normally provided by the community center and park district during before and after school programs and camps. Parents are encouraged to plan for childcare for the next two weeks and have a plan in place if schools remain closed longer than the end of March.
“We remain in frequent contact with our local, state and federal health departments,” states the memo. “We will do our best to inform you of updates via our website at www.forestpark.net.”
In a separate email, Gillian said that as long as elections are held, Forest Park’s usual polling places at schools, the park district and the community center will be open. He also said the village would do its best to keep the food pantry open.
