Oak Park’s famous Porchfests, featuring live music outside people’s houses throughout the village, are continuing through the current health crisis. But now, the performances are online, and they’re called Couch Concerts.

“We’ve got you ‘COVID’,” reads the new graphic on the Porch Fests page. “Every Friday evening until we’re back on a porch with you.”

Tonight, March 27 at 7 p.m., Oak Park Porchfest is featuring the Medina family from Forest Park in a concert to raise money for Growing Community Media, publisher of Wednesday Journal, Forest Park Review, Austin Weekly News and Riverside-Brookfield Landmark.

“Perhaps now more than ever we’re seeing the need for accurate, fact-based local journalism,” reads a post on the Porchfest Facebook page. “It’s always been important, but now it feels as if though lives may depend on it. Please make a donation to the Wednesday Journal or consider a subscription if you don’t already have one. These local papers are important to the everyday life in our communities. Stay informed! Make a donation on their page at www.oakpark.com/Donate.”
