Although walking paths at the Park District of Forest Park are open, social distancing is recommended.

The Park District of Forest Park posted a March 27 reminder to residents that all park district facilities, including the playgrounds, outdoor fitness court and outdoor facilities are closed to the public through at least April 7. This include the restrooms, soccer field and skate park.

“Our walking trails remain open,” said the message on the park district’s website, “so if you decide to utilize these, please follow the NRPA [National Recreation and Park Association] and CDC’s recommended guidelines on social distancing.”

The park district also reminded people that congregating in groups is not advised.

“While it is important to get outside and be active, it is also important to make sure that we follow proper social distancing protocol, as well as avoiding any social gatherings and staying home if you feel sick.”

Earlier in the month the park district announced that all its programming is on hold until further notice. This includes postponement of the annual Easter egg hunts and the Celebrating Seniors Brunch.
