Parts of Madison Street and Circle Avenue will be closed on Friday, June 19, for two events: a Juneteenth Police Accountability Protest march, and “Meet us at the Bridge,” a Juneteenth celebration organized by Forest Park Against Racism.

  • Madison Street, from Van Buren to Circle Avenue, will be closed to traffic on June 19 from 4:30 p.m. until about 7 p.m.
  • Circle Avenue, from Madison Street to Harrison Street, will be closed on June 19 from 4:30 to around 7 p.m.

“Meet us at the Bridge,” an event organized by Forest Park Against Racism, will be held on the Circle Avenue bridge from 6 to 7 p.m. in celebration and recognition of Juneteenth 2020.

Protesters, beginning at Broadview village hall (2350 S. 25th Ave. in Broadview), will march to the Forest Park bridge as part of a separate Juneteenth police accountability demonstration.

Organizers include Senator Kimberly Lightford and west suburban mayors Rory Hoskins, Katrina Thompson, Andre Harvey and Edwenna Perkins, along with other elected officials. The march is expected to begin at 4 p.m. and will end at Circle Avenue and Harrison Street (at the Circle Avenue bridge) by 6 p.m.

Participants in both events are encouraged to wear masks.
