Two Circle Avenue projects are still underway but on schedule, according to Village Administrator Tim Gillian.

The Circle Avenue bridge over the I-290 expressway has been closed for Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) repairs. Gillian reported that IDOT has said the bridge will be reopened to traffic by Oct. 15.

On the south side of town, between the 1200 and 1500 blocks of Circle Avenue, a large diameter sewer system is being installed. The project, which began in July, includes separation of the existing combined sewer system and installing new storm and sanitary sewers and a new water main. It will also involve pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, curb and gutter repairs, sidewalk and driveway replacement, parkway restoration and landscaping.

Gillian said the project will be completed “when the snow flies.” Currently, he said, the contractors are framing and pouring concrete curb and the work is on schedule. The goal, he said, is to get it as far along as possible before winter.
