Two people were ejected from a car in a fatal single vehicle crash on the Eisenhower Expressway around 4:30 a.m. this morning. The adult driver died on the scene; the passenger, an 8-year-old girl, was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, according to Forest Park Fire Chief Phil Chiappetta.

The car went up in flames, and Forest Park and North Riverside fire departments put out the blaze.

As of 7 a.m. on Oct. 16, eastbound lanes were still closed as investigators worked the scene of the crash, which occurred between the Harlem Avenue and Desplaines Avenue exits.

The location is almost exactly the same as a July 22 occurrence in which a driver was ejected from a car and a child was pulled from the flaming vehicle.
