On Nov. 30 at 3:21 a.m., a man driving southbound on Harlem Avenue stopped at the light near I-290, when a white Chevy Malibu with Uber stickers on the front and rear windows pulled up alongside his vehicle. Two men exited the Malibu and approached his car. One of the men came to the driver’s side door, displayed a handgun, and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The other man attempted, unsuccessfully, to open the rear driver’s side door. A third man remained in the driver’s seat of the Malibu.

The victim said he put his head down and accelerated quickly to escape from the offenders. He continued to drive south until he saw an Oak Park police officer at the BP gas station at the corner of Harlem Avenue and Roosevelt Road. He pulled over to report the incident, and Forest Park police were called.

Suspicious people on porch

A resident on the 500 block of Thomas Avenue was inside his foyer on Dec. 4 with a contractor when he happened to see a man and woman on his front porch, peering inside his front window and making a “furtive move to enter [his] partially open front door,” according to the police report. When he asked if they needed something, they left the porch, got into their vehicle and fled.

Surveillance video from his front porch showed a good image of the two, which he sent to the police. But he also discovered footage from his camera showing the same man on his porch on Dec. 2, carrying a black backpack and a blue bottle of detergent and peering into his window. About 45 minutes later, the woman is seen on video, walking past his porch, backing up, then stopping in front of his house and staring at it.

He was given a local ordinance citation for open alcohol.

Fight at chronic nuisance property

Police broke up a fight at a house party on the 1100 block of Thomas Avenue on Dec. 6 at 2:16 a.m. They were dispatched to a “fight in progress,” where approximately six or seven people, both male and female, were yelling and arguing outside in front of the house. Other people were walking away from the residence, and officers heard more arguing inside.

While talking to someone at the front door, officers observed two female subjects pushing each other. The officers entered the home and separated the women. Another woman, with whom the police department has had “numerous” contacts with at the same address, came out of a bedroom yelling and swearing.

The house has been deemed a chronic nuisance property in the past, and multiple citations have been issued to the owner, according to the police report. Other incidents at the house include parties, fights, drug investigations and arrests, domestic disturbances, and an unlawful discharge of a weapon, most involving the same subjects.
