The Desplaines Avenue bridge over the I-290 (Eisenhower) Expressway will be closed, weather permitting, for repair work, from Friday, June 4 at 10 p.m. to Monday, June 7 at 5 a.m. The work will be done by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
Traffic will be rerouted to Madison Street, Harlem Avenue and Roosevelt Road, according to a press release from IDOT, and overnight lane closures on I-290 at Desplaines Avenue are possible.
“Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area,” said IDOT.
The Blue Line station at Desplaines Avenue will remain open.
The project is part of a six-year, $33.2 billion plan to improve 2,779 miles of highway and 7.9 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, according to IDOT.
