Forest Park Chamber is planning a frightfully good time at the 9th Annual Forest Park Casket Race on Oct. 23.

Registration is now open for teams featuring four runners and a “ghost” riding in the casket. Awards given to first, second and third place finishers; to the most frightfully funny and creepiest caskets; and for the treasured “dead last” competitor.

Learn more or register by visiting the Chamber of Commerce website at exploreforestpark.com/events.

Village scavenger hunt returns

The Historical Society of Forest Park and the Forest Park Library encourage you to explore Forest Park by participating in their Village Scavenger Hunt, which runs from July 30 to Aug. 15.

Pick up booklets full of riddle and clues at the Forest Park Library at 7555 Jackson Blvd. or download one at forestparkhistory.org. Solve the riddles to find each historic location and share your answers on a forum at tinyurl.com/FP-Scavenger to see how you did.

There’s no cost to participate. More information is available through the library’s website at fppl.org or the historical society’s website.

Art Stroll on Madison Street

The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce invites to join them for their next Art Stroll on Madison Street and experience local artist displays in windows and stores on Thursday, Aug. 5 from 6 to 9 pm.

The art strolls are a joint effort of the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce and the Forest Park Arts Alliance and showcases local “makers” — both pop up artists and downtown business district staples, even those who create food or beverages. Visitors are encouraged to stroll and experience the creative energy in town.
