Forest Park police were sent to the Thornton’s on the 600 block of Harlem Avenue to investigate a possible shooting that sent two people to the hospital around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24.

Police were not directly notified of a shooting but were instead informed by two local hospitals after patients were dropped off suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers were assigned to the gas station where they interviewed a clerk who told them that a customer had run inside earlier that evening to tell him about a fight outside. By the time the customer had a phone to call the police, two cars involved in the alleged altercation had driven away. Police were not notified at that time.

Later that evening, police reviewed security video that showed a fight and discovered a single shell casing near a gas pump.

It is unclear whether anyone was shot at the gas station, police said. The incident remains under investigation.

This information was obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
