The old Set Back North at 7228 Circle Ave. was reborn after a heavy renovation by owners Frank and Colleen Kevil and Jim Shaw in 2000. The upscale bar and restaurant had a new plumbing and heating system, and the original mahogany bar was restored. In addition, Kevil’s hired a head chef from the Culinary Institute of America and offered steaks and chops and would later be known for its lobster bisque soup.

After 18 years, Kevil’s closed its doors to make way for the 200-unit senior living apartments, Forest Oaks, which is in operation today.
