In 1988, Forest Park's Youth Commission (FPYC), was known for its youth lead teen dances, movie days and sock hops.  This youth leadership group planned, promoted, set-up and hosted events geared to teens in town.  Chaired by Cindy Lyons, this youth ran out of the Forest Park Community Center.
The FPYC met once every other month and with the help of adults, coordination of teen events were planned and executed.  In addition the junior council sat in on the Village Council meeting, and each student represented a member of the council, and village departments.
