Each year, one teacher is chosen as District 91’s “Crystal Apple” winner. The teachers submit secret nomination forms, which include information on how their nominees demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in their schools, and how they inspire others to greatness. The forms for the nominee with the most votes in his/her building then go to the school board, names deleted, and given the information provided the board votes on the winner.

This year, Betsy Ross is proud to be the home of another Crystal Apple winner! Mrs. Sharon Bork, who teaches second grade, has made the Common Core accessible for her students, inspired a love of learning, developed nurturing, positive relationships with each child in her class (as well as many others in other classes), had open, meaningful communication with parents, and been a teacher leader in the building. After 20 years of service to Forest Park schools, she has been recognized publicly for the excellent teacher she is. Congratulations, Mrs. Bork! We’re lucky to have you at Betsy Ross!
