Virtual favorite games, books & movies sharing
Middle grade kids are invited to talk about their favorite games, books and movies and trade recommendations with each other on Friday, July 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants must register in advance at www.fppl.org/events
Virtual tap dance class
On July 13 from 4 to 4:25 p.m., learn the basics of tap dance with Ryan Galloway, co-owner of and artistic director at Principle Dance in Forest Park for an introductory virtual tap dance class. Wear gym shoes or feel free to wear tap shoes, if you have them. More information and registration is available online at www.fppl.org/events.
Talk about new technologies & teleconferencing
The library is hosting a Zoom discussion on July 15 from 3 to 4 p.m. for people interested in talking about new technologies and essential tools for telecommuting. Share and hear participants' experiences, tips and tricks for virtual conferencing applications, ideal browsers, cloud storage choices, best apps and more. Drop-in summer sports at the park
Summer sports programming begins at the park district this week. Children ages four to 12 are invited to drop in, for $8 per class, for summer soccer (Tuesdays), baseball/softball (Wednesdays) and Recess at the Park! (Thursdays). Socialism discussion at Centuries & Sleuths
Join author Joseph Rulli as he discusses his book "Chicago Socialism: The People's History" at Centuries & Sleuths, 7419 Madison St., on Tuesday, July 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. In his comprehensive history of socialism in the Windy City, Rulli examines major events through the largely unchronicled lives of the Chicago citizens who experienced them, from centennial garment workers to millennials with megaphones.
