Join fellow book lovers for a discussion of author Susan Orlean's "The Library Book," from 7 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

 

Dynamic People with Disabilities 

Share your experience living with a disability during this monthly support group, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Progress Center for Independent Living, 7521 Madison St. 

 

Personal Assistant Recruitment and Training 

The Progress Center for Independent Living is recruiting personal assistants and certified nursing assistants to help people with disabilities in their homes, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on August 29 at the Progress Center for Independent Living, 7521 Madison St. 

 

Author Discussion and Signing 

Join author Kathy Atwood for a discussion of her latest book, "Women Heroes of World War II: 32 Stories of Espionage, Sabotage, Resistance, and Rescue" at 2 p.m. on Aug. 24 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 W. Madison St. There will be musical accompaniment with tunes of the time by Kathy and her husband John Atwood. 

 

History Discussion Group

Join fellow history lovers for discussion of author James Newton's "Uncommon Friends: Life with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Alexis Carrel, and Charles Lindbergh," from 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St. 

 

 

Faux Pas Comedy Show 

Enjoy a night of laughs to benefit the Forest Park Arts Alliance's new mural project at 8 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Doc Ryan's Bar and Grill, 7432 Madison St. 

 

Garage Galleries 

Don't miss the chance to see your neighbor's garages transformed into art galleries during the annual Garage Galleries artwalk on from 2 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 24.

Housing Forward Trivia Night 

Housing Forward will host its ninth annual trivia night at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Healy's Westside, 7321 Madison St. The nonprofit's goal is to raise at least $20,000 to support programs and services designed to end homelessness. Visit housingforward.org/events/trivia-night.
