Adolf Winkler, who lived on the 1000 block of Troost was a long time employee of Silverman-Weiss Cemetery.   He is shown in this film clip from 1938.  The film shows Adolf working at the Jewish cemetery owned by the Weiss family west of Des Plaines.  The Weiss family also owned the tavern at 7737 Roosevelt, Frank's Old Time Tavern, now called Mc Gaffers.

The video was given to Pat Malone, current proprietor of McGaffer's Saloon located at 7737 Roosevelt by regular customer,  Adolf Winkler, who has been deceased for many years.

With a keen eye, viewers can see the Monarch Beer sign, trolley tracks, and the tree lined Harlem Golf Course across the street.   In additon the clip shows Adolf's home on the 1000 block of Troost in Forest Park.

Jill, that is an absolutely fabulous piece of video. Are there more videos in the vault?
