The 46th Annual No-Gloves softball tournament began under blue skies in Forest Park Thursday. Teams included: Rats, Team 23, Wallace, Sage, Traffic, Rewind, Play-in, Smackout, Monkey, Thunder, Gladiators, Jinx, Tides, Players, Inc., Dynasty and Mudville. Winners Play Friday night at the Forest Park diamonds. Play continues through Sunday.

A bit of bowling wisdom came to Lori Marchi as she was filling in another low score for her last-place team. "You gotta hit the head pin."

Candidates squared off Tuesday at Oak Park Public Library in the hotly contested race for 1st District Cook County Commissioner, defending their political records and giving their visions on topics ranging from the state of public health to overcrowding at the county jail.
