Paul Jargstorf, 73

Paul M. Jargstorf, 73, of Johnsburg, Illinois, died on Jan. 17, 2021 in McHenry. Born on Oct. 3, 1947 in Melrose Park, the son of Henry and Barbara Jargstorf, he grew up at 1440 Circle Ave.

Curt Eisenstaedt, 60

Curt Eisenstaedt, 60, of Forest Park, died on Dec. 24, 2020. A proud member of IBEW Local Union #134, he had an adventurous spirit, with a love of animals and kids, who inspired a loyalty in his friends that was always fiercely returned.

Police de-escalate

Last Friday afternoon, Forest Park police responded to a call at Harvard and Marengo of a young man waving a gun through the sunroof of a car. By the time police arrived, that person had moved inside the apartment building at that intersection and into an apartment he shared with his grandmother.

St. B’s future

Once a cultural and spiritual center of Forest Park, it becomes clearer that the days of St. Bernardine’s Catholic Church are numbered. With attendance at Sunday Mass withering, donations dropping and the parish school long closed, it seems more than likely that the archdiocese’s touted Renew My Church program will renew St. B’s out of existence when final decisions are made in March.
