At the Oct. 8 school board meeting, the District 91 school board voted to approve intergovernmental agreements for child care during remote learning between the district and both the Howard Mohr Community Center and the Park District of Forest Park.

The cost to the district, which is paying for the service, making it free to D91 families, is $165 per student per week. According to Superintendent Lou Cavallo at the meeting, the agreement also specifies the terms in regard to the district's responsibilities, such as ensuring supplies are provided, as well as having additional Chromebooks available in case issues with devices arise.

The district is also responsible for providing desks and chairs and a breakfast, lunch and snack for all children.

The community center and park district, among other things, agree in the contract to supervise the children, take temperatures before allowing entry to facilities, and conduct appropriate cleaning of the areas where the children will be.

The programs at both the community center and park district, which are providing supervised care to students and children of staff during the school day, are currently at capacity.
