Cannabis and wads of cash

Police curbed a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am on a traffic violation April 21 around 12:30 a.m. and noted that the driver and passenger had an open 750 ml bottle of Hennessy in plain view and that the female passenger had a bundle of cash next to her leg.

Police questioned the 20-year-old passenger, who said the money belonged to the 22-year-old driver, and that she was "just playing with it."

Police reported that they observed the strong odor of fresh cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. The driver, when asked, denied the presence of pot in his car.

According to the police report he then began to act "nervous and talk rapidly" when told by police that his car would be searched by a K-9 narcotics dog.

The officers asked the driver to exit the vehicle, and when he did, they reportedly noticed another bundle of cash on the vehicle's center console, which the driver grabbed and stuffed into his pocket.

During a safety pat-down, officers recovered a total of $1,400 in cash from the driver, who allegedly claimed the money was from his income tax return. From the car, police reported recovering a baggie containing marijuana and two stacks of small plastic baggies which are "commonly used to package narcotics."

Police also reported finding in the glove compartment an empty box for a small digital scale. The female passenger was given a issued a local ordinance citation for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, but the driver was found to have a previous arrest in Chicago for possession of cannabis.

He was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and two traffic citations. The Pontiac was impounded and the cash was seized.

Move your car, mister

The officer honked at the vehicle, and the driver waved, but reportedly did not move the vehicle, as he was waiting for a passenger to exit the car and enter the CTA station.

The driver then moved forward and the Forest Park officer curbed the car. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Willowbrook, told police his license was suspended. He was charged for stopping where prohibited and driving on a suspended license.
