The Forest Park Youth Commission will be holding a Road Rally on Madison Street on Saturday, August 27.
Participants aged 8-15 will be given a set of clues designed to lead them to participating Madison Street businesses. Once they solve the clues, the businesses will provide them with an item that will prove they have visited.
The rally will start at 12 p.m. at the Forest Park Grove at 7822 Madison Street, and participants are encouraged to bring bikes, skateboards and rollerblades. All groups of children participating must be accompanied by an adult supervisor.
Crossing guards will be on hand to assist children.
The rally will be immediately followed by an ice cream party at the Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor at 7314 W. Madison Street.
The event is free of charge, but participants must fill out a sign-up sheet prior to the event. The form will be available at Village Hall.
Businesses confirmed to be participating as of Monday are Schauer’s Ace Hardware, Starship Subs, Doc Ryan’s, Deko’s and Paulson’s Paint.
Youth Commission coordinator Mary Win Connor said she hopes to have at least 10 businesses participating by the time of the event.
