September is Library Card Signup Month. It isn’t that we won’t accept your application for a library card any other time, but we’re putting a special emphasis on enrolling new library card holders this month. As an added incentive, everyone who signs up for their first library card is automatically entered in a prize drawing to be conducted in early October. Come see us at your library!

Now most of you know that you can come here to check out books, movies, music, etc. But read a little further, and you’ll see that there are a lot of other uses for a library card, and you don’t always even have to be in our building to take advantage of what we can offer.

What can you do with a library card-even when you aren’t at the library?

A lot more than you might think! Anywhere you can access the Internet, we can help you find high quality information. Come to the library and learn about how to use our catalog to request and renew items. Find out how to access our databases to do research for a paper; check for a doctor near you; get the answer to that trivia question that’s been bothering you for years, or any one of a million other tasks.

Just attend one of the 60-minute classes listed below. Come to the conference room a few minutes early for cookies and punch, then join us at the public access computers on the main floor of the library. You’ll leave surprised by all you can do with your library card and understand why we call it “The Smartest Card.”

You can sign up for a class by calling the library at 366-7171, or dropping by the Circulation Desk. Here’s the schedule:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.

Spend a little time to learn a lot about the world of information that your library card opens up!
