A festive Fourth of July celebration

On behalf of the Board of Commissioners of the Park District of Forest Park, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the following wonderful individuals and businesses that made contributions helping to make this year’s annual Fourth of July celebration a fun and successful event: Mike and Joan Bigos, Best Buy of Melrose Park, Ricmar Industries, Gemini Communications, Ento Pest Control, Forest Park Stucco, Consolidated Auto, Personal Home Safety, Kay’s Bakery, Mohr Oil, Joanne and Cliff Leber, Forest Park Fire Department, S&S Towing, Ed’s Way, Submarine Tender, Louie’s Grill, Flex and Point Dance, Molly Malone’s, Caffe DeLuca, Harrison Street Café, Ladies Workout Express, Andre Dockens, Under the Ginkgo Tree, Spotless Auto Wash, Paulson’s Paint, Forest Park American Legion Post 414, Forest Park VFW, and Shemin’s Nursery.

We would also like to thank the following vendors that participated in the event: Brown Cow Ice Cream, Forest Park Eagles Aerie 1344, Forest Park Youth Soccer and Little League, Harlem Maenner & Damenchor, Kiwanis Club of Forest Park and First UCC of Forest Park.

Our appreciation is also extended to Mayor Calderone and the village council, the police department, fire department, and the public works department. This event would not happen without their great support. A special thank you goes to The New Horizon Pyrotechnics for putting on a safe and exciting fireworks show.

Last but not least, we would like to thank the volunteers that work tirelessly so that the rest of the village can come and have a good time. This year we were without longtime volunteer, Lorraine Popelka, but somehow we believe that she had something to do with the nice weather we had, instead of the rain that was forecasted for the day.

Fall soccer

Another great Fourth of July celebration at the Forest Park District! Larry Piekarz and his band of workers truly made the park look its best and gave the day a real hometown feel. The amount of focus on kids’ activities and layout made for a very enjoyable family experience.

The Forest Park Youth Soccer Association has had the pleasure of running the refreshment booth for the past number of years. Our gratitude goes out to Ed and Mike at Ed’s Way, who procure the soda on our behalf.

Also a reminder about fall soccer registration; sign ups will be held Aug. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Aug 4 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park District Building Field House, building #4 by the tennis courts. For additional information you can go to www.FPYSA.org.
