Well, it’s delightful that the weather has finally warmed up and the flowers are in bloom. Programs and activities are blooming around the library as well. Here is a sampling of what’s going on during May.

Journal writing workshop

Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. This program is presented by Cynthia Gallaher, a Chicago based poet and writing teacher. Use what you learn here to help preserve your family history, write a memoir, or other journaling inspirations.

Antique appraisals

Saturday, May 24 at 2 p.m. Got a “treasure” you’d like to know more about? Come see Rex Newell of Rex’s Antiques and get answers. The first 40 people who register may bring one handheld item each for an appraisal. Forest Park patrons only.

Children’s programs

Monday May 6 at 4:30 p.m. The Manga Discussion Group will be talking about “Fullmetal Alchemist,” a Japanese animation series.

Monday, May 12 at 4 p.m. Be jeweled with the 5/8 Club. Come make your own beaded jewelry, bracelets and more. For kids in grades five through eight.

Sunday closings

Starting May 25, the library will be closed Sundays until September. We’re still open the other six days of the week, though, and we’d love to see you whenever our doors are open.
