The death of Bev Thompson has everyone who knew her in shock. She will never be replaced, but life will go on.

Bev’s senior trips will probably continue, maybe some changes will have to be made. There likely will be more Wednesday trips. That would be the best way to honor her memory. She will be remembered every time a bus leaves the community center.

On a much lighter note, congratulations to the Calderone family on the engagement of Anthony Calderone Jr. The husband-to-be is the son of Mayor Anthony Calderone and Lois Calderone. Anthony Jr. is a 2002 graduate of St. Joseph High School and is a martial arts instructor with Victory Martial Arts Academy in Forest Park and Orland Park. The bride-to-be, Sarah-Beth Jahn, is the daughter of Edward and Karen Jahn of Morris. She is the events coordinator for Family Harvest Church in Tinley Park. A January 2009 wedding is in the works. Congratulations to the young couple and best wishes for the future.

Congratulations to Jim and Erin Watts on the birth of their new baby, James Scully Watts who was born Aug. 18. Baby Jimmy’s uncle Dan Watts, along with former library board president Chuck Brod, was responsible for our present library. In spite of much opposition by the then council, Dan, Chuck and other board members fought for library lovers, petitions were signed and voila! Forest Park got our new library. That was a long time ago.

Another new baby in town is Locklin Bell, who was born June 30. Baby Bell is the daughter of Kathleen and John Bell, and the granddaughter of Michael and Janet Finn of Saint Louis.
