The Oak Park and River Forest Children’s Chorus announces its annual fundraiser, Shake Those Winter Blues, to take place on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at Pleasant Home, 217 S. Home Avenue in Oak Park. Chorus members range from kindergarten to high school. The very talented young people are not unfamiliar with music such as “Marriage of Figaro” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The chorus holds its fundraising event every year, but this is the first year that the public is invited to attend.

You really don’t want to miss this event. You’re not only supporting young musicians from Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Berwyn, Maywood, Chicago, Melrose Park and Cicero, but you also get the rare opportunity to see popular radio show host Peter Sagal (pictured) from National Public Radio’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me. Sagal will emcee the evening of jazz music, choral performance, refreshments and an auction. Tickets to the benefit are $100 and can be purchased by calling 383-1971 or e-mailing oprfcc@sbcglobal.net. Tickets must be purchased in advance, so act fast to take advantage of this great opportunity. Check out some performances of the children’s chorus at www.oprfcc.com/youtube.htm.
