Hear ye! Hear ye! Let it be known throughout the land! All persons who attended any Forest Park schools are invited to attend a reunion on Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Grove. Candy Doss is the one to see about this event. You can reach Sandy, or get more information, by going to Smokin’ M’s at 7501 Roosevelt in Forest Park (try the shrimp while you’re there), or by calling 630-570-1505. There’s also a Facebook site for you Web savvy people.

To attend the reunion, the cost is only $25 in advance, $30 at the gate, and seniors get in for $15. Hurry, though, it’s getting close to the deadline. The reunion will be a Hawaiian luau, so dress appropriately, if you can. Your $25 will include the band, drinks, an all-you-can-eat dinner, and all that goes with a luau. The party will begin at noon and last until 10 p.m. Your old classmates, friends and teachers are anxious to see you again. Kids age 5 to 12 are free, so don’t pay a babysitter – bring ’em along.

One of the alums who probably won’t be able to make the luau is Ron Apilado. Ron and his wife, Leslie Salvador Apilado, are the new parents of a baby boy, Julian. Julian was born July 25 at 5:45 a.m. Baby Julian has an aunt living in Forest Park. She’s Elisha-Rio Apilado, also a former Forest Park schoolgirl. Julian’s uncle is Aaron Apilado. The baby’s grandparents are former Forest Parkers, Elizabeth and Honor Apilado, now living in Mesquite, Texas, and the Salvadors, of Bloomingdale, Ill. Congratulations to the Salvador and Apilado families.

A famous and well respected deceased Forest Park physician, Dr. Phyllis Orland, will be honored at a memorial service at the Howard Mohr Community Center on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a short program beginning at 1:30, and then friends can gather and reminisce about Dr. Phyllis, Dr. Frank and all that they contributed to the health and history of Forest Park. For more information call 630-963-5156.
