Albert J. Arnon, 87, of Forest Park, formerly a longtime resident of Oak Park, died at home on Aug. 4, 2010.
Born on May 13, 1923, he graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School and then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
He was employed by Motorola for 34 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Arnon was a lover of cars, airplanes and sailing.
Albert Arnon in survived by his wife, Iona; his children, Jack, Michael (Ray) Arnon, and Jean (Roger) Burgess; his stepchildren, George (Nancy) Ledin, Kathryn (Robert) Powers, Susan (Tom) Valequette, and Carolyn (Cecil) Monteith; his grandson, Eric; and 14 “special” grandchildren.
He survived his parents, Michael and Grace Arnon; his first wife, Ethel; his brother, Robert; and his daughter-in-law, Linda Arnon.
The Arnon family would like to thank Dr. John Wiley at West Suburban Hospital, the Oak Park Wound Clinic, Bethesda Home and Rainbow Hospice for all the loving care they gave.
Visitation and a funeral service were held Aug. 9 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dwight Bailey of Austin Boulevard Christian Church officiating. Burial was at Forest Home Cemetery.
