At the village council meeting Dec. 13, the board will hold a closed session meeting, followed by an open session, before commissioners vote to either accept or reject the settlement agreement reached by the village of Forest Park and Robert Marani.
Marani, a restaurateur and developer in Forest Park, sued the village in a federal civil rights case this past June. He claimed the village violated his civil rights, interfered in his business relationships, inflicted emotional distress and denied him equal protection under the law. The suit noted Marani’s condo conversion project, the Tuscan Lofts development at 7320-7322 Madison Street.
U.S. District Court Judge Ruben Castillo dismissed the case soon after it was filed. In November, the two parties met in court to discuss a settlement agreement. The details of the settlement are not yet available.
