The audience at Centuries & Sleuths on Saturday was spellbound when Kevin Bry, our Oak Park neighbor, presented a living biographical lecture on Clarence Darrow, which he wrote and performed. His performance was worthy of a much higher price than the $10 we paid to see him.

If you ever hear of him performing on Darrow elsewhere, I urge you to get over there and see it. If you’d like to book him for a performance, you can contact him at 312-749-7400 or kuklabry@aol.com

It was a bittersweet homecoming for Maggie Griffin last week.  She was in town with her children and her brother Gary, who recently underwent extensive surgery at Northwestern University Hospital.

It was a brighter day for Nancy Bower who is the unofficial president of the Kathy Griffin fan club and was thrilled to spend the afternoon with Marge.  (Marge’s new Hollywood name is “Maggie,” by the way).

Sadly, Marge’s husband, John, and many of her old friends are no longer with us. Those Forest Parkers include: Alice Conway, Howard Mohr, Eloise Dowd, Ed Huebner and many more.  Pat Hemstreet is still among the living, but he’s in Memphis, and was unable to make the trip.

Marge Zwadlo is making quite a name for herself in the world of fine arts.  Her latest exhibit is at the Triton College Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Building 2000 Fifth Ave.  This is the West Suburban Artists Guild’s 83rd annual fine arts exhibit, and this year’s theme is “Serenity.” The exhibit lasts until Oct. 21, when the artist reception will be held, at 7 p.m.  For more information call 708-456-0300.

Deepest sympathy to Sandy Byrnes, whose mother, June Doulder, died a week ago on Oct. 10. Funeral arrangements will be announced.

Remember the Harlem Manner-Und Damenchor’s 121st anniversary concert and ball in on Sat., Nov. 5, at 7 p.m.  If you go, you’ll enjoy spirited singing, dancing, hearty food and dancing, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is $10, at the door, and it’s located at the River Grove Lodge, at River Road and Fullerton Street.  For more information, call Peter and Isabelle Herdeg at 630-545-1041

Birthdays this week are: Jamie Stetler, Samantha Zaverdas, Josie Becker, Kay Duff, Drew Frank, Charlotte Lavnick, Chloe Hills, Rich Bisluk, Cory Fink, Marjorie Beyer, Hannah Connolly and John Schmidt.

And celebrating wedding anniversaries, we have: Brent and Yvonne Marler, Auastin and Terry D’Souza, and Tom and Hazel Esposito

Thanks for your time.
