Virginia Ann Dwyer, 78, a longtime resident of Oak Park and Forest Park, died from Alzheimer’s disease complications in Deming, N.M. on Jan. 6, 2012. While in the area, she was an active member of Third Unitarian Church in Chicago.

Upon leaving the Chicago area in 1994, “Gini” and her husband, Richard, traveled the country in a 5th wheel RV for 10 years. In recent years, they divided their time between Oregon and Arizona before settling in New Mexico.

Virginia Dwyer is survived by her husband, Richard Schutt; her daughters, Mona Noriega (Evette Cardona), Carmen Noriega (Velda Clinton), and Margo Noriega; her stepsons, David (Elizabeth Gaylord) and Timothy (Marybeth Sciaccotta); and her grandchildren, Ramon, Camile, and Samantha Noriega.

In honor of her life, her family would like to highlight the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) at www.AlzQuilts.org, whose mission is to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s and related dementia through the sale of quilts.
