Mary Alyce McDermott, mother of Forest Park Deputy Fire Chief

Mary Alyce McDermott, nee O’Brien, resident of Elmhurst, formerly of Forest Park died Jan. 17.

She was the wife of the late George, Native of Co. Mayo Ireland and mother of Maureen, Cathleen, Patrick and Deputy Fire Chief of Forest Park Robert (Claudia) McDermott and Irene (Edward, Jr.) Sandner. Mary Alyce was grandmother of Laura, David, Mary, Marissa, Robert, Sean, Elizabeth and Edward, sister of Robert (Patricia), Donald (Margaret) and Gerald (Diane) O’Brien and aunt of many nieces and nephews and special friend of Molly.

She was a member of the Society of FBI Alumni and a 22-year employee Edward Don & Co., North Riverside.

Services were held at Visitation Catholic Church, with arrangements by Gibbons Funeral Home. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Alyce’s favorite charity the ALS Association, 220 W. Huron St., Suite 4003, Chicago, IL 60654.
