Kimberly Echols, principal of Proviso Math and Science Academy, will move to district-wide administration next year as asst. supt. of curriculum and instruction, after the District 209 board voted to appoint her at their Jan. 15 meeting.
“When you have good people, you don’t want to lose them,” said District 209 Superintendent Nettie Collins-Hart. “I’d rather promote her than have another district steal her away,” she told the Forest Park Review.
Echols is a popular principal, Collins-Hart said.
“Everyone loves her; the parents love her; the students love her,” she said, adding that turnover in the head spot at PMSA was not to be taken lightly, but that Echols would still be “in the building and near the students, helping them.”
Echols’ salary will be $144,000 for the 2013-2014 school year.
