It may be a bit chilly outside and only January, but West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) is thinking about summer and encourages their participants to do the same. The registration deadline for the summer 2013 WSSRA day camp lottery is at 5:00pm on Friday, February 8, 2013. Parents of special education students, ages 3 through 22, are encouraged to not miss the deadline.
WSSRA offers six weeks of camp, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm. Camp begins on June 17 and ends July 26, 2013. The Association will offer a morning and an afternoon section for preschoolers. There will be limited half day camp slots for students attending morning summer school. Transportation to and from one of the eight day camp locations has limited availability.
WSSRA day camp activities promote speech and language skills, motor coordination, and social and play skills while participants enjoy a fun and safe environment. Small child to staff ratios enable WSSRA to provide specialized supervision for children with any level of disability. WSSRA has been offering summer day camp since 1976.
For more information, call WSSRA at 847-455-2100. Registration forms can also be down loaded from the WSSRA website at www.wssra.net. Day camp information can be found inside the winter program brochure. Families can also call the Association at 847-455-2100 to have a registration form mailed to them.
WSSRA offers therapeutic recreation services for the residents of the following park districts: Berwyn, North Berwyn, Clyde, Hawthorne (in Cicero), Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Norridge, Franklin Park and the Villages of Elmwood Park and Harwood Heights.
