The Minor Dodgers faced the Red Sox in a thriller on Thursday evening in the Forest Park baseball diamonds. The Red Sox jumped out to an early lead, scoring six runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Alexis Ozga drove in the final two runs with a double. The Dodgers fought back in the top of the 3rd. Nick Tricoci led off with a double, and came home on a triple by Ta’Jonn Johnson. Kyle Barron followed with a double and Gavin O’Connor knocked him in with a single, as the Dodgers scored four runs.
Nick Tricoci showed good control on the mound, striking out six, while Nathan Blazenko and the other Dodger pitchers kept the game close with six strike outs. Their coaches kept encouraging their players and giving them instructions like, “We don’t throw underhand; Put your mitt on, it’s coming to you!” and “High ones, you have to lay off those.”
The game was tied 7-7 going into the final inning. Atzin Martinez finally scored to win the game for the Red Sox 8-7. Both teams were in good spirits after the game. The Dodgers Colby Binion said, “It felt awesome to score.”
