COLD WEATHER WARRIORS: These Boy Scouts are part of the human bob sled team from our new Forest Park troop.

Speedy get well wishes to our old friend Bob Sullivan. Bob has been ailing for quite some time. Everyone here at the “Journal-Review” is very fond of Bob. We hope he makes a good recovery soon

Sympathy to the family of Gary Griffin, former Forest Parker, Oak Parker, Chicagoan and finally Californian. Gary’s brother John was a sports writer for the Review many years ago. The Griffin family moved from town to Oak Park and then to California years ago. But Gary’s mother, Marge Griffin still maintained friendships with many Forest Parkers.

Steve Cushing was back in town interviewing old timers for the Historical Society. Steve is living a full, exciting life and like Augie Aleksy, he is turning his hobby into a livelihood. Steve’s first love is the blues and for more years then I can remember he has been hosting Blues Before Sunrise on different stations around the country. He has had several radio interviews to his credit and even appeared on Phil Ponce’s show on channel 11. His biography “Blues Before Sunrise” will soon to be found on the shelf at our library. Steve is now living in Manistee, Michigan, but will always be a Forest Parker at heart.

The Boy Scouts are back in Forest Park! These cold-loving scouts are participants (with their sled) in the “human bob-sled team.” Kiwanis Club of Forest Park provided financial support to get the troop going.

A big welcome to Alicia Hammond the new liaison librarian at our Forest Park Public Library. Alicia is busy planning interesting activities for us at the library. She got her training at Dominican University before coming to us in the Youth Services Department. For a while she was at another library but was anxious to come back to us. When Alicia heard there was an opening here she came right back. We are extremely happy to welcome Alicia back home with us.

A good way to warm up these frigid days is to take in the concert at Saint John, Church, 305 Circle Ave. The Chicago Chamber Orchestra String Quartet will perform works by Mozart, Dvorak, and Michael Mclean on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. The performing musicians are violinists, Jaime Gorgojo, and Julia Birnbau, viola, Ryan Loeckel, and cellist Sarah Marsh. There is no charge for the program but a free will offering is gratefully accepted. There will be a reception following the program.

Sympathy to Steve Cetnarowicz on the death of his beloved wife of 48 years, Suzanne Witzke Cetnarowicz. Suzanne was born and raised in Forest Park. She is the mother of Gemara and Stephen Jr. and will be sorely missed by them and by her many friends, including several faithful dog friends.

Belated happy birthday (Jan. 5) to Jamielynn Gulotta.

Birthdays this week are: Lia Pardun, Rickie Beam, Matt Walsh, Rose Krieger, Aiden Grant, Becky Lauris, Sally Cody, Megan Childs, Ashley Mendez. Happy Birthday!
