The 77 libraries that make up the System Wide Automated Network (SWAN), including the Forest Park Public Library, are anticipating the implementation of a new online catalog. This new integrated library system, which will go live on April 14, will bring some in-demand features to the fingertips of library patrons and enhance the online user experience.

The new catalog will work on all standard browsers and will offer more intuitive searching, as well as direct access to e-books and audiobooks. Online searches will be easier with “Google-like” searching, including spelling correction, search suggestions, and recommended titles. An enhanced usability on mobile devices is another feature.

Users will be able to browse and check out ebooks and audiobooks directly from the new catalog under a single login. Digital resources including ebooks, downloadable audiobooks, magazine and journal articles, and more will be available with a single search. Many other features, including text notifications, will premiere after the April launch, and others will be unveiled as the system evolves.
