On Saturday, May 9, Forest Park parents attended the 10th Annual Statewide Summit for Bilingual Parents at the Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort and Conference Center in Oak Brook, Illinois.  This annual, state-funded event is sponsored by the State of Illinois and featured Evelyn Sanguinetti, Illinois Lieutenant Governor, as the keynote speaker. The goal of the event is to provide parents with tools and resources to help students succeed academically in Pre-K through high school and beyond. The parents attended classes, such as: Learn to Use Technology to Help your Children Learn, How to Stop Temper Tantrums in Children, and Parent-Child Emotional Intelligence.

Classes were presented in English, Spanish, Polish, Arabic, Mandarin, and Korean. Translators were available for those parents who spoke other languages. District 91 parents who attended were accompanied by TPI Teacher, Jill Torres.  All stated that they had a wonderful time and learned useful information that will help them to nurture and educate their children.  The parents and Ms. Torres hope to have others join them for this beneficial event next year.
