Good news of the week! The popcorn machine at Schauer’s Hardware has finally been repaired and is back in action every Saturday morning. Happily showing it off is employee Olivia Gunter. Olivia wants to remind us that a contribution to the Forest Park Food Pantry is always appreciated when you help yourself to a bag of popcorn — really good popcorn.

A sad farewell to Forest Park for Sandy Boy the other day. She will be back from time to time to visit her 102-year-old mother-in-law who lives on Lathrop. But the house the Boys lived in on Harrison Street since 1971 was sold as soon as it got on the market. Janine Boy has moved to Marco Island. Claudine has been there for 20 years. Michelle lives in Lombard. But the Boy family will always love Forest Park and treasure their Forest Park memories.

In case you haven’t heard, baby skunks abound in town lately. My Callahan got “skunked” last week. It’s not pleasant; I’d never smelled “skunk” before and to tell the truth, it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. One neighbor’s little orange-colored dog was “skunked” twice. She washed him with peroxide, and he’s turning white!
