John R. Becker, 81, of Forest Park, died on Dec. 25, 2015. Born on Nov. 24, 1934, he was a lifelong resident of Forest Park. After graduating from Proviso High School (now Proviso East), he worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company. He joined the U.S. Army a few years later and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning, he attended Roosevelt University and from there went to Northwestern University where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting.
He started working for Karroll’s Menswear Clothing Store in the accounting department and continued with that company for 30 years. He was a lifelong member of the Kiwanis Club and also served as treasurer with the Park District of Forest Park.
Jack Becker is survived by his children, Lisa (John) Grimes, Nancy Becker, James (Desiree) and Michelle (Clay) Baum; his grandchildren, John, Connor, Mary Jane (“Janie”), Georgia, Josephine, Thalia, Margaret (“Margo), Luke and Urban; and his sister, Carol (the late William) Friedle. He was preceded in death by his wife Diana (nee Smith) and his brother, Fred Becker.
