This week, we would like to take a moment to spotlight what’s happening in 6th grade!

This week ELA, students will be getting ready to finish up Miracle’s Boys, which will lead into next week, where they will use the shorter week to write a paper comparing the different “heroes” of  the novels Powerless and Miracle’s Boys, and the movie “Sky High.” Students are also focusing on practicing citing textual evidence using Scholastic’s Action Magazine, and the students are completing two research projects, which they will present this week.

In science students are going deeper into Plate Tectonics and how they work. It is planned that the students will learn about the different faults by using Oreo Cookies as models before drawing them out. The students are quite looking forward to that lab.

In math student are finishing a unit on fraction operations – adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. So, a quiz will soon be in the offing.

It’s always interesting to take a few moments to look into the classrooms and see all the wonderfully diverse things the students are working on.
