The Proviso East Pirates won their second straight State Basketball High School Championship Title in 1992.   This was the fourth title since 1969 and second in a row.  

 The Pirates won three games in three days in Champaign had a 57 game winning streak.  The Pirates held off Coninsville Kahoks on Friday 53-51,  and on Saturday took out Wesinghouse Warriers 64-47 and in the final game, knocked  out Peoria Richwoods 64-47.   

The team arrived back in Chicago and paraded through feeder sububrs of Proviso Township.  They drove down Madison Street to Circle and wound back down toward Maywood.  

The parade ended around 2pm when players arrived at the field house where several hundred fans through a victory rally.  Speakers included Principal Glenda Gwynn, Athletic Director George Ludwig and Head Coach Bill Hitt.

According to the 1992 Forest Park Review article by Ken Trainor:

Hitt urged everyone in the gym to pick out something around them to remember.  Most of us will never have the opprotunty to participate and share in 57 straight wins, he said.  Find soething and blaze it into your mind.  I have my memorty to keep, and next year I want to get another one.
