Last concert of the summer takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, featuring the music of R-Gang. Grab a blanket, bring your lawn chair, pack a picnic and spend the evening listening to free music at the Forest Park Picnic Grove, 7824 Madison St. 7-10 p.m.

Interview Techniques

On Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m., find out how to answer important interview questions during this interactive session that will prepare you for the big interview. Presented by Richard Williams of Triton College. Then on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. “Practice Your Interview” will conduct mock interviews so you can learn from mistakes before they count. In this workshop, led by Marco Villalobos of the Goodwill Connection Center, participants learn how to prepare for an interview, successfully deal with difficult questions, and follow up properly after the interview.

Grown Up Game Night

On Monday, Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., spend an evening at the library with a variety of board and card games. Compete against each other, or work with one another, playing games like Scrabble, Exploding Kittens, and Flash Point.

Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus Train Tragedy

On Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., join local author and historian John Rice for an examination of the June 22, 1918 tragedy and the Forest Park connection. Back to School 5K

District 91 hosts the inaugural event on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The 5K run/walk will be followed by a celebration behind the Forest Park Middle School, free of charge. People joining just for the party are asked to make a donation of their choice to the American Cancer Society. Flick and Float

The Good Dinosaur makes a splash at the Forest Park Aquatic Center on Wednesday, Aug. 10. After open swim, pull out your favorite raft as the pool turns into a “float-in theater.” Pre-registration is not required; tickets will be sold on-site. Proof of residency will be required for resident rates, and fees apply to passholders as well. Resident and pool pass holders: $3/Non-residents: $4.50.
