According to the Forest Park Review, March 19, 1980, with 15 of 20 precincts reporting,  Republican candidate, Ronald Reagan garnered 659 votes in a field with three other candidates.  Reagan captured the Illinios GOP over Crane (27), Anderson (541), Bush (113) others (7), and secured the nomination for Presidency.

The Democratic party had overwhemingly supported Jimmy Carter (556) over Ted Kennedy (197).

The Forest Park Review likely printed the front page of this issue last, as the press waited for the handwritten update to be inserted into the paper for printing.
