4th Annual Germanfest
Forest Park’s fourth annual Germanfest will be held the weekend of June 8 outside the Altenheim Picnic Grove, 7824 Madison St. Enjoy live music and entertainment, authentic German food and beer, games for kids, and booths featuring items by local vendors. West Suburban Community Action Cookout and Volunteer Fair
Sponsored by Western Front Resist in Forest Park, Oak Park Area Indivisible, Oak Park Call to Action, Indivisible West Suburban Action League and others, the goal is to get groups acquainted with each other and help individuals learn how to work toward fall elections. Explore Forest Park: Knit Nirvana
Join the library as it continues its exploration of cool local businesses! This month, explorers will visit Knit Nirvana and learn about yarn, knitting, crocheting and complete a hands-on project. Tour starts at 7 p.m. on June 12 at Knit Nirvana, 7453 Madison St. Reserve your space online at fppl.org.
Networking Luncheon
Join the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce for its monthly Networking Luncheon at 11:30 p.m. at Old School Tavern, 201 Desplaines, on June 12. Tickets $15 per person, reserve by emailing info@exploreforestpark.com by June 8.
Torch Run Raffle
After a successful Cop on a Rooftop, the Forest Park police are aiming to raise even more money for Special Olympics Illinois, with a “Torch Run” starting at the Westchester Police Department and ending about 11 a.m. on June 9 at Doc Ryan’s, 7432 Madison St. A raffle will be held after the run where the public can bid on items that benefit the special needs advocacy organization. Show up to support a good cause and your local police department.
Bike Repair Workshop
Dan’s Bike Shop will inspect your bike, teach you how to keep it tuned and repair a flat at a workshop at 2:30 p.m. on June 9 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.
Mindful Vagabonding: Around the World with Brian Michalski
Travelling the world doesn’t have to wait until after retirement. Learn how to plan, budget, deal with culture shock, apply for a work or tourist visa and more with Brian Michalski, a former teacher and world traveller. Talk starts at 7 p.m. on June 7 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.
