Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and head over to the Grove for a summer concert under the stars. Concerts are free; food and drink will be sold. “Out of Control” band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. on July 17 at the Grove, 7824 Madison St.

Forest Home Cemetery Bicycle Tour

Founded in 1873, Forest Home Cemetery holds the historic Haymarket Martyrs Monument, Tiffany Company monuments, a mysterious Druid monument and much more. No better way to see the large cemetery than by bicycle. Meet tour guide Anne Alt at 8:30 a.m. on July 8 in Fox Park in Oak Park, 624 S. Oak Park Ave. The ride will be a moderate pace, and last about 15 miles.

After Hours Cardboard Drive-In Movie

Kids age 8 and under should bring a cardboard box to customize before a movie at 6 p.m. on June 29 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. The library will provide materials, and a few extra boxes, for drivers who need them. 

West Suburban Jazz Bus Tour

Healy’s Westside and Kagan & Gaines in Forest Park will join area venues in hosting jazz shows at 6 p.m. on July 25. Buy your tickets at jazzdesires.org before June 25 and pay only $25 for a promotional button to be worn the evening of the tour, entry into each venue and luxury bus transportation. Produced by Jazz Desires, a nonprofit that brings music to youth.

Four Winds Casino Trip

Seniors, try your odds at a few of the 3,000 slot machines and gaming tables at the new Four Winds Casino in South Bend, Indiana on July 5. $41 residents; $45 non-residents. You must have a valid state ID or driver’s license with your full name, address, date of birth at time of payment. Reservations required. Teen Cupcakes and Canvas at Creativita 

Join Forest Park Public Library staff to create a work of art and enjoy a sweet treat at 3 p.m. on June 28 at Creativita, 7512 Madison St. 

Sunday Afternoon Movie

All ages can enjoy a screening of The Princess Bride at 2 p.m. on July 1 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. Enjoy special prop prompts and surprises along with the movie. 

Help outstanding Proviso students pay for college

The Kiwanis Club of Forest Park and 209 Together are partnering to raise $6,000 for hard-working, college-bound students of Proviso Township District 209 High Schools through “Great Chefs Feeding College Dreams,” a fundraiser that will be held at 7 p.m. on June 28 on the rooftop of the Urban Pioneer Group, 7503 Madison St. Proceeds from the fundraiser, the tickets for which are $50, will go toward $1,000 scholarships to students.

Attendees can enjoy food prepared by the “great chefs” from Gaetano’s Restaurant, the Heritage, New Rebozo, Zesty Catering, Blue Max and Azucar Rococo Cake Studios. Haymarket Pub & Brewery, 90+ Cellars and Famous Liquors will donate wine and beer. Village Free Press Editor-In-Chief Michael Romain, who is also a staff reporter for the Forest Park Review’s parent company, will emcee the event.

Donations should be issued to the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park Foundation, mailed to PO Box 514, Forest Park, IL 60130 and designated for the Scholarship Initiative.
